Edinburgh Social Enterprise / The Good Stuff Network Edinburgh welcome James Wood as their new CEO

Meet James Wood, our new CEO

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of James Wood, as our new Chief Executive Officer for the network.

James has an extensive background in Community Development and as a gifted partnership-builder, engaging in international and multi-cultural settings with public, private, third-sector and community groups.

Originally from Canada, James moved to Scotland in January 2016, where he co-founded CultureGarden.org, a grassroots consulting organisation supporting the development of healthy team cultures. He also directed a place-based social enterprise centre in the North East of Scotland (Foress) before covid changed the world!

When I moved to Scotland, I was immediately inspired by the support of the Scottish Community Empowerment Act and the Social Enterprise Plan as rare examples of how government can actively support a place-based, wellbeing society. Stepping into a leadership role with ESE, I am thrilled to support the Social Enterprises in our network, as I believe SEs are the corner stone of a vibrant society.

James is looking forward to starting his new role as Chief Executive Officer and engaging with current and new members, as well as working with partners and stakeholders.

Emma Galloway, Chair of ESE:
We are delighted to have James step into the role of CEO at Edinburgh Social Enterprise. James was an exceptional candidate who brings with him a wealth of experience in community development and social enterprise in both Scottish and International settings. As a membership organisation, we are looking forward to seeing the growth of The Good Stuff Network Edinburgh and new opportunities open up for our members under James’s leadership and have every confidence that working with the staff team and Board he will enable Social Enterprises to continue to thrive in Edinburgh.

We bid a fond farewell to our current CEO Claire, who is off on new adventures and will be greatly missed after 7 years leading the organisation and developing The Good Stuff Network Edinburgh. We wish her all the best in her new ventures!
