Kickstart programme, member contacts and Christmas promotions

Member contact

We have been doing our best at ESE to make personal contact with members via telephone calls and its helped us create a better understanding of the challenges you have been facing but also heartening to hear of some of the achievements over the past few months too. It has also, however, unfortunately highlighted that some contact details for members are clearly out of date. if you have not had a call form myself or another member of the team or board can you please send me the name, email and telephone number of your main contact/s for your organisation?

ESE Forum

We’re holding a members’ forum on 6 October, 1.30pm where I will feedback on the key issues that have been identified during these telephone conversations. This is also a chance for us all to discuss priorities for the network for the next period. If you have not already registered for the forum, please email Gordon ( and he will send you the link.

Christmas Markets and BTGS voucher scheme

Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions on gatherings we are unable to hold the annual Christmas Market at Waverley Court. However, we are exploring a Buy The good Stuff Christmas voucher campaign to be run jointly with Forth Valley SEN. You will need to opt into this campaign. Steve and Eilidh (FVSEN) are working up the details currently and will send out further information asap so please keep an eye on your inbox.

This is UK Government scheme to create new 6-month, 25 hour/week, paid employment opportunities for 16-24-year olds. The Government will cover all employment costs (for minimum wage for 25 hours per week) and provide a support grant for each young person placed. ESE has registered with DWP to be a Gateway Organisation for members who wish to offer a small number of opportunities (to register as a single employer you need to offer a minimum of 30 places) and we already have circa 15 members signed up, offering over 40 placements between them. If you are interested in finding out more about what we are doing, please contact me directly.

You may not all be aware that Steph, our Business Administrator, left us at the end of the summer to go off to University (studying at home currently). She is keeping in touch and her studies are going well. She is greatly missed not only for her hard work and attention to detail, but also for her exceptionally cheery approach to life and friendly manner. Gordon, Steve and I are doing our best to hold the fort until we are able to recruit for her replacement.

Even although the percentage of recipients who open our e-newsletter is high, it could be higher, therefore we’re asking everyone to check your spam folder and ensure the newsletter is not ending up in your junk/spam folder. It does end up in mine sometimes, which Steve takes great offence at, lol!

Warmest wishes

Claire, Gordon, Steve
