WHALE Arts is the cultural anchor organisation for Wester Hailes. They are a community-led arts charity and social enterprise, set up by local people in 1992.
Their mission is to be the creative heart of a vibrant, thriving community.
This Christmas they are offering festive cards designed in collaboration with WHALE Arts’ smARTcraft group! A pack of 4 joyful, unique designs.
The card designs were created from drawings by Norman, Keith, Michelle and David, which they then printed using their community risograph printer.
Profits from these cards support future community arts projects!
smARTcraft is a creative group for adults with additional needs.
Alongside these in the shop, WHALE Arts are also selling beautiful risograph postcards and prints of Edinburgh City Centre!
These designs were created in collaboration with WHALE Arts participants – George, Rose, Mary, Patsy, Norman, Susan, Louize, Fabien, Emily, and Daros.
They explored Edinburgh city centre, stopping to draw various landmarks before visiting the National Galleries of Scotland to be inspired by their collection of illustrative artworks.
Everyone’s drawings were put together into two collaborative designs which they printed as a group using their community risograph printer.
